I am sitting down in a quiet house to blog this morning. Quiet though not in a good way, as I missed those little feet stomping around the corner and giggling in delight when they try to catch each other. This is a sad day for one mommy here.
I found a brand new preschool that's close to home and accepting enrollment, and it's been a difficult week for me as I prepare my kids and myself for this private preschool. What made it worse was that I shed more tears than them as I dropped them off to school in the morning. I am happy that my little muchkins are growing up and making friends, but why is it so hard for me to leave them in a safe environment for a few hours each week?

I can relate to this. My elder boy, Zac cried so much when I send him for his first nursery class at 20 mths. He cried, I also cried. Hard to leave him in school when he is still cring & wanting me to stay with him. However, as time goes by, he loves going to school. I believe you will soon get used to it & feeling relieved to have a few good hours of peace & do things that you missed doing while the kiddos are away for school :)

Hi Janice,
Thanks! So nice to hear from you. I don't think I'll come back home after dropping them at school next time as the house feels wierd without them.
hehe... welome to the club!! :P I just blog abt this here: http://jumbledthots.blogspot.com/2007/09/we-survived-first-week-of-school-part-1.html
BTW: how old are ur gals? they are so cute!!!
Hi Blur Mommy,
Hopping over next. Thanks! They are three.
I can relate to your story too... What a coincidence... my youngest started preschool yesterday... (in the afternoon) I felt like he was going to awake from his nap all the time, and I was speaking softly around the house... just to realize he wasn't home, funny!
Oww, *big hug* I guess this is a phase every mom has to go through while dropping your little one for the first time. Soon it will pass, stay strong! :)
Hi Cris,
Yeah, I didn't realize how big of an impact it would be on me to come home to an empty house for the first time in a long while...
Hey C,
Thanks! I ran out of the house, and that helped.
I don't think my mom miss me much when I went to kindergarten. But I know my parents miss me now in Singapore while I'm in the US.
Hi Tigerfish,
I'll miss you terribly if you went back to Singapore! ;)
aw. i think that is hard! Your natural instinct is to protect them and now that they are at school, it must feel strange. take care and I hope you feel better soon.
Hi Daphne,
Thanks!
AW! I'd have cried too though. Then I'd go and take a class or crochet or practice my dulcimer or lay in the grass or... LOL! Maybe because my children have never really been away from me. I don't even have someone to watch them if I need to go to a doctor's appointment~ACK! So I don't go... LOL!
I don't know why I just told you all that. It's been a weird week here. Everyone's getting over sickness, and I started making flax seed bread again. The kids are runnin' off! That was TMI, wasn't it? (((((HUGS))))) sandi
It's funny how we cry when our kids are strong and vice versa. When my son started school, he was clingy and I was strong and hugged him and bid him goodbye. I didn't cry.
When I dropped my daughter off on her first day at kinder, she couldn't wait to get to her class. I kissed her goodbye and got teary as I walked to the car. I bawled my eyes out when I got home.
Your girls I am sure enjoy being at preschool. :)
Hi Sandi,
I'm in the same boat, and leaving them at school was heartbreaking! I do hope you and your family get well soon. You should post your flax seed bread recipe, wanna? :D
Hi Judy,
I understand what you mean. They were both leaving my sight at the same time, and it was hard for me.
hi, welcome to the club ..
even now I still feel 'empty' when Ryan is in nursery in the morning.
altho at the same time appreciate some quiet time on my own .. heehee
Aww, they're adorable. Of course, it'd be hard to be away from them even if it's just a few hours.
Hi Peony,
Yes, it's a wonderful and yet sad feeling, isn't it? I keep telling myself that I should enjoy this quiet time, but so far I have been too busy shopping! haha!
Hi Wandering Chopsticks,
Thanks! I have been going non-stop with them after school that I didn't even have time to surf the net yet. LOL!
They are really cute and look very studious already :-)
I was really happy to dump mine in school and couldn't wait to go away. The daughter cried for a week but the boy was happy to find new toys. And then later on, the girl couldn't wait to go to school while the boy would sulk when he had to.
I am really happy to find my kids at the end of the school day though and then just spend the rest of the day with them. I think that it's great to have a few hours away from each other, absence can only make the heart grow fonder.
Hi Beau Lotus,
Hehe! I capture them at one of their rare quiet moments.
My heart aches everytime I drop them off at school, but I have to do what I have to do, no? It's only been 3 school days past. Time will help, I'm sure.
